It is a privilege to welcome you to the Ysgol Gymraeg Y Fenni website. All our pupils are important as individuals, and each individual is important as a member of the community of Ysgol Gymraeg Y Fenni. It is this principle of respecting the individual and placing the needs of the individual at the centre of everyday that is at the heart of the ethos, values and success of our school. Our aim is to offer an innovative 3-11 school that provides first-class Welsh-medium education in a kind, fair, homely and ambitious atmosphere. We believe in preparing pupils by developing their skills and values for life beyond the classroom and to face the challenges of the twenty-first century. We expect the best possible standards from our pupils and we will do our best to give them every opportunity and guidance. As we return from a very challenging period in education, the richness and breadth of our extra-curricular activities is an important feature of the life and culture of this school. We aim to ensure academic, cultural, musical and sporting successes celebrating the success of all pupils, whatever their talents and interests. One of the strengths of our school is its Welsh Tradition and Language focused ethos. We are a kind, caring, open and happy community where pupils feel at home and enjoy their education. We aim to ensure that learning is an exciting and enjoyable experience primarily by using interesting and active learning methods in our learning and teaching. Our pupils are proud of their school, proud of their traditions and bilingualism and they are able to contribute positively to the multilingual and multicultural society of Abergavenny, Wales and the World.
