Lego Therapy

Lego Therapy is a structured social development programme originally designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other conditions that impact social competence. In addition to supporting children with ASD, Lego Therapy can also be beneficial for pupils experiencing:

  • Social and communication difficulties
  • Anxiety related conditions, including social phobia
  • Adjustment difficulties that present as anxiety or low mood
  • Challenges with social competence, such as turn taking, sharing, and cooperation

During sessions, children work collaboratively to build Lego models, with each child assigned a specific role within the group. This approach promotes communication, problem solving, and cooperative interaction.

Lego Therapy is suitable for a wide range of ages and typically runs for 30 minutes to one hour. At Ysgol Y Fenni, the majority of staff are trained to deliver Lego Therapy; however, sessions are primarily run by our Nurture and Wellbeing team (Nyth).
