Pupil Deprivation Grant
At the heart of Ysgol y Fenni’s ethos and values is respect for the individual, with every day shaped around their unique needs. We believe in preparing learners for life beyond the classroom by developing their skills and values.
The purpose of the Pupil Development Grant is to improve outcomes for learners eligible for Free School Meals and for Looked After Children.
The intended outcome of the grant is to help overcome the additional barriers that prevent learners from disadvantaged backgrounds from achieving their full potential.
£35,650 was allocated to Ysgol Gymraeg y Fenni for this purpose. We have decided to use our grant to:
- Arranging for assistants to work across the school to develop reading, oracy, music, and drama skills.
- Providing intervention groups for learners, including those working at the borderline, expected, and higher-than-expected levels.
- Setting short-term targets at the end of progression steps.
- Providing appropriate intervention and tracking learners' progress towards their expected end-of-year level.
- Ensuring that ALN pupils receive individual support.
- Developing a Learning Mentor role to run 'Drawing and Talking' and Lego Therapy groups.
- Supporting the ALN budget for Llangrannog, Gilwern, and sports competitions.
- Interventions addressing attendance.
